TIGER — Destiny Deetz hit two free throws with one second left to shoot Rabun County to a thrilling 61-59 Region 8-2A win over Monticello Saturday.
It was a huge for the Lady Wildcats (21-1, 12-0 Region 8-2A) who clinched the top seed in the upcoming region tournament with the victory. It also was their 19th straight win.
Brooke Henricks paced Rabun County with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Laken Stiles added 13 points and 5 rebounds and Kaitlin Coleman had 9 points and 6 steals forthe Lady Wildcats.
Deetz finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 65,
JOHNSON 28
Lakeview Academy ran its win streak to nine straight after beating Johnson 65-28 Saturday afternoon at the Lakeview gym.
Eliza Snyder led the Lady Lions (19-4) with 12 points. Joelle Snyder added 11 points and Maddy Towles had 10 points for Lakeview.
Elise Roark chipped in with 8 points, Savannah Kinsey had 7 points, and Sadie Thrailkill, Linda Geib and Lindy Kanaday each had 4 points apiece.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday in huge Region 8-A battle at home against Athens Academy. A Lakeview win would clinch the top seed in the upcoming Region 8-A tournament.
