An Atlanta woman found dead in Lake Lanier earlier this month died of an apparent drowning.

The body of Shannon Sancho, 30, was discovered in the water near the shoreline just outside Lake Lanier Islands on Friday, Jan. 18.

"A preliminary autopsy report found no signs of trauma and indicated the victim drowned. Investigators found no evidence of foul play," said Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth via email.

Hall County investigators found Sancho's vehicle in a parking lot in the same vicinity where her body was found by a fisherman.
