Last week was a busy one in the motorsports world, despite the kick off of the official racing season still being a few weeks away.

On this week's Hard Left Turn podcast, Brandon Reed and Pete McCole take a look at some of the biggest stories of the past week, including:

-J.D. Gibbs, son of Coach Joe Gibbs and the architect of Joe Gibbs Racing, passed away last week at the age of 49.  Also passing away over the weekend was Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Charles Barrett.

-NASCAR took many people by surprise by reportedly laying off several employees.  Pete and Brandon discuss what the long-term implications could be.

-Big news from the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, as defending series champ Brett Moffitt moves to GMS Racing, leaving 2017 series champ Johnny Sauter without a ride just weeks before the season opener at Daytona.  Meanwhile, Georgia racer Austin Hill takes Moffitt's former ride at Hattori Racing.  Brandon and Pete try to sort it all out.

-We preview this week's Chili Bowl Nationals at Tulsa.
