No one spoke against a first reading for an amendment to Hall County's alcohol code that would allow restaurants to sell alcohol earlier on Sundays.
The amendment is the county's version of the "brunch bill" that was passed by the Georgia House of Representatives and approved by county voters in November of 2018. It would allow restaurants to sell alcohol as early as 11:00 a.m. on Sundays rather than waiting to 12:30 p.m. under the current alcohol code.
The Hall County Commission approved the first reading unanimously. A second reading and public hearing will be held at the commission's next voting session on January 25.
The cities of Gainesville, Flowery Branch and Oakwood have also approved first readings of similar code changes.
