Buford gas station falls into sinkhole

Posted 5:30PM on Thursday 10th January 2019 ( 5 years ago )

A gas station in Buford deteriorates and is continuing falling into a sinkhole and the owner won't respond to the city's order to repair or demolish the building.

Gwinnett County Fire Services Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the abandoned Wee Willy's store does not present a danger to the public, but continues to collapse into Richland Creek, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Rutledge said they first noticed it in May of 2018 and Buford's code enforcement department ordered the owner to submit plans for the building by January 8th, but no such plans were received.

The property sits at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Little Mill Road.
