In a little less than two weeks, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will close the Spout Springs Road bridge as part of the I-85 widening project in North Georgia.

According to GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland, the bridge will be demolished and replaced.

Crews will begin work on Monday, January 21 and the closure will remain in place for about 180 days.

Strickland said temporary traffic signals will be placed at the intersections of Spout Springs Road and Flowery Branch Road and SR 124 and Flowery Branch Road to assist with traffic flow. Motorists traveling westbound on Spout Springs Road will be re-routed at Flowery Branch Road, except for thru traffic to Doc Hughes Road.
