Girls basketball: Branch, Rabun, Banks all take region wins

FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch ran its win streak to six straight with a dominating 62-47 win over Class 7A Milk Creek Saturday night at home.

They dominated right from the start running out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter. The Branch pushed its lead to 38-17 by halftime and took a 46-29 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Falcons (13-3) got balanced scoring as four players finished in double figures, led by Caroline Wysocki with 18. Ashley Scott had 15 points, Ashley Woodroffe 14, and Ashlee Locke 11 for Flowery Branch.

Flowery Branch will jump back into Region 7-4A play on Tuesday playing host to White County.

 

RABUN COUNTY 57,
MONTICELLO 46

The Lady Wildcats stayed unbeaten in Region 8-2A play after holding off the Lady Hurricanes on the road.

Rabun County (13-1, 5-0 Region 8-2A) got another double-double from Destiny Deetz with 14 points and 10 rebounds and she added 3 blocks as well.

Brooke Henricks paced the Lady Wildcats with 21 points.

It was the 11th straight win for Rabun County, which travels to Social Circle on Tuesday in another Region 8-2A tilt.

 

BANKS COUNTY 89,
OGLETHORPE COUNTY 13

The Lady Leopards also continued their hot streak with a demolition of the Lady Patriots at home in Region 8-2A action.
 
Banks County (14-3, 4-2 Region 8-2A) led 32-2 after the opening period and took a 61-8 lead into halftime. The Lady Leopards held Oglethorpe scoreless in the third quarter.
 
Banks County, which has won five straight, next will travel to Union County on Tuesday in another Region 8-2A battle.
