Nineteen years after the unsolved murder of Elaine Nix, family and friends will once again gather for a candlelight vigil Saturday, September 29 at her gravesite.

The vigil will take place at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery a 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by a prayer at 7:30 p.m.

Nix, an 18 year old, was last seen September 20, 1999, when she left her parent's home to make a long distance call on the pay phone at the Zack's Food Rack on Candler Highway. Her car was found with the keys still in the ignition and her purse and cigarettes in the vehicle.

Eight days later, Nix's body was located in a wooded area in Buford, unclothed but with her jewelry. Her cause of death was ruled undetermined.
