The featured speaker at this year's Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce HealthSmart Expo will be a man who is no stranger to the opioid epidemic and knows first-hand the devastating and sometimes fatal impact it can have on people.
Dallas Gay lost a grandson to opioids several years ago and since then has become the "face" of the fight against the problem in the Gainesville area. Gay will touch on the local, state and national scope of the opioid epidemic and what is being done locally to address the tide of destruction caused by drug addiction.
The 12th Annual HealthSmart Expo will be held Oct. 17 at the Gainesville Civic Center, and will also feature wellness seminars and health screenings.
