A Mt. Airy man was stabbed multiple times while walking in Toccoa overnight.

“Just after midnight, an officer patrolling South Pond Street was flagged down by a group of people,” according to a statement by Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize. “They were yelling for an ambulance, which the officer requested by dispatch right away.”

Nathan Kelly, 39, of Mt. Airy suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and a large wound to his stomach area, according to the statement. Kelly was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Bystanders told the officer the man responsible for the stabbing was walking up Pond Street. Another officer arrived and made contact with Jeffrey Seay.

“Witnesses stated that the two men were arguing and Seay had pulled out the knife several times and calmed down before things escalated and he stabbed Kelly,” according to Mize. “Both men were intoxicated.”

Seay, 51, of Toccoa is charged with aggravated assault and was booked in at the Stephens County Jail.

Also arrested in an unrelated case was Holly Kitchens, 36, of Toccoa, who was charged with stalking in Habersham County. She was booked in at the Stephens County Jail with a hold placed for the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
