The only candidate on the ballot for District 3 of the Jackson County School Board in November is facing a battery charge in connection to an alleged case of domestic violence.

Robert "Beau" Hollett of Jefferson was unopposed in the Republican Primary for the post, which covers portions of South Jackson and of West Jackson, and faces no Democratic opposition in the November general election.

He was charged Sept. 7 with allegedly kicking his wife multiple times during an incident on the night of Aug. 27, Arcade Police Lt. Michael Adams confirmed in an interview with AccessWDUN.

The crime was reported by a medical provider, after the woman complained of back, neck and head pain, saying Hollett had kicked her multiple times after the couple had an argument.

Doctors told police they found injuries consistent with what Mrs. Hollett described, and reported the incident to police, as required by state law.

Robert Hollett was charged with one count of battery under the Family Violence Act in the case, Adams said.

Several children were at home at the time of the incident, but none of them witnessed it. None of the children were hurt.
