*The Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster in the United Kingdom is scheduled to visit Parkview High School in Gwinnett County Tuesday, September 25, at 6 p.m. to personally invite the Parkview Marching Band to play in London’s 2020 New Year’s Day Parade. The parade, which started in 1987 with 2,000 mostly local performers, now involves up to 10,000 performers from around the world and a live TV audience of several hundred million.

*Forty-seven would-be Hall County firefighters went through their first week of training last week.  The recruits face another 17 weeks of training.

*The Hardman Farm State Historic Site's Fall Celebration will take place Oct. 13 from 10:00-4:00.  It is located on Georgia 17 in Clarkesville.

*State Sen. Butch Miller (R – Gainesville) was recently announced as a “2018 Conservative Clean Energy Champion” by Conservatives for a Clean Energy Future for his "advocacy for related policy solutions and initiatives."
