BLUE RIDGE — After a disappointing start to the season, Chestatee football showed that it still has plenty of fight to give on Friday.
The War Eagles bounced back from three straight losses to notch a 45-42 win over Fannin County in Blue Ridge, scoring touchdowns on five of their last seven possessions to overtake the Rebels.
Christian Charles did his part to get Chestatee into the win column, rushing for 342 yards and five touchdowns, while also completing 16 of 24 passes for 170 yards.
And while the War Eagles (1-3) yielded 506 total yards to the Rebels (1-3) they did hold Fannin County scoreless on three of its last four possessions as visitors edged in front.
A punt and two first half turnovers helped stunt the War Eagles in the first half, as the Rebels pushed in front 29-16 at the half. But Chestatee allowed just 13 points the rest of the way.
Hunter Chambers also scored a rushing touchdown for Chestatee, while Seth Pressly hauled in 11 receptions for 142 yards.
The War Eagles play host to Denmark in their first Region 7-4A contest of the season next week.
