It's been more than two years since church members held a groundbreaking ceremony, but now the congregation of Christ Place Church in South Hall County is ready to open the doors on its new worship center.
In a press statement, church officials announced the first services for the new worship center will take place Sunday, Sept. 16 at 9:15 and 11 a.m.
Later in the day, the church will hold a bock party for the surrounding neighborhood. Hours are 5-9 p.m. at the property at 3428 Atlanta Highway, Flowery Branch.
The block party will include:
- Professional fireworks show
- Food truck park (avg. meal price $6-10)
- Inflatable games for kids
- Yard games for teens and adults
Groundbreaking for the new 2,000 seat worship center took place on May 1, 2016. In February, the congregation voted to change the name of the church from Blackshear Place Baptist Church to Christ Place Church. The church was founded in 1963.
The 78,000 square feet of new construction includes some 350 LED panels, totaling over 80 feet of LED screens, along with tour-quality sound and lighting systems. The church plans to install an 80-foot illuminated metal cross at the north entrance in the future.
