DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County is 3-0 for the first time since 2001 after running over West Hall 45-14 Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

The win also snapped a four-game home losing streak to the Spartans (1-3) who are off to their worst start since beginning the 2011 season 0-4.

West Hall, however, actually took to the opening lead when Michael Thompson scored on a 3-yard run early in the second quarter. Just 90 seconds later Ahmad Kamara pulled the Tigers within 7-6 on a 45-yard yard scamper for a touchdown.

SeVaughn Clark gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish four minutes later on a 5-yard TD run for a 14-7 lead after also running in a 2-point conversion. Clark then connected on a 35-yard scoring strike with Ethan Cameron on the Tigers’ next possession to take a 21-7 lead into halftime.

Clark finished with 56 yards rushing and 101 yards passing for Dawson County. Kamara had 102 yards and Evan Abernathy added 99 yards rushing for the Tigers.

It was more of the same in the second half. Cameron ran in scores of 14-yards and 20-yards sandwiched around a 9-yard touchdown run by Clark as they pushed the lead to 42-7.

The Spartans cut the lead to 42-14 early in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard touchdown pas from Clayton Jenkins to Tad Davidson but Caleb Bonesteel booted a 30-yard field goal for the final scoring on the night.

The Tigers will put their win streak on the line next week traveling to newcomer Denmark, which already has notched a pair of wins in its inaugural season.

West Hall has a much-needed bye week before opening Region 7-4A play in two weeks against defending state champion Blessed Trinity (3-0).
