Authorities have launched an investigation into the death of a Henry County woman whose body was discovered along the shores of Lake Lanier at Lake Lanier Islands.

At 10:45 a.m. Friday some golfers found the woman's body along the fairways near Legacy and Villa lanes, and called 911, said Derreck Booth, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Responding deputies found the woman's car parked in the same area, along with some of her belongings, like her ID and phone, still inside the vehicle.

She is identified as Tonja Hall, 53, McDonough.

Early indications are Hall's body was not in the water long, said Booth, and deputies have found no indications of foul play so far.

Hall's body has been sent for an autopsy.
