Softball: Branch moves into 1st in 7-4A; North Hall nips Stephens

GAINESVILLE — Kendyl Chase tossed a 3-hitter to lead North Hall to a tight 2-1 victory over Stephens County Tuesday in girls softball action.

Chase went five innings striking out three and walking none to get the win for the Lady Trojans. Kendal Clackum pitched the final two innings to earn the save.

Allie Huff took the loss for Stephens County yielding just two runs on three hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Macy Clark had two hits for North Hall (6-7).

North Hall will hit the road on Thursday in a key Region 7-3A battle against Cherokee Bluff.

Flowery Branch (8-5, 6-1 Region 7-4A) moved atop the region standings after a dominating win over Chestatee in three innings in region action Tuesday at Hog Mountain Park.

The two teams will meet on Thursday at Chestatee in the second part of their home-andhome series.

The Lady Falcons bats got going early and Alexis Nixon and Lauren Hicks each knocked in three runs on the day. Alyssa Kimbrell got the win in the circle for scattering three hits and striking out two in three innings of work.

Flowery Branch has won 4 of its last 5 games overal to climb one-half game ahead of Marist and one full game ahead of Blessed Trinity.

Kendyl Chase (37) started for North Hall Kendal Clackum (7) closed out the Lady Trojans' 2-1 win over Stephens County Tuesday.
