Georgia Mountain Food Bank recently received a $5,000 donation from Publix Super Markets Charities.  The money will fund the Gainesville-based agency's food rescue program.

Each month, GMFB receives approximately 90,000 pounds of food items from retail partners monthly which accounts for about 51 percent of the overall food donations.

The grant from Publix Super Markets Charities, combined with other funding,  has allowed the Food Bank to pay off 50 percent of a new delivery truck, which food bank officials say is critical to maintaining successful operations of the food rescue program.

Opportunities to become a corporate sponsor still exist and companies that are interested may contact the Food Bank at 770-534-4111 or visit gamountainfoodbank.org. All corporate sponsor logos will be displayed on the truck.
