Softball: East Hall stays perfect in 7-3A; Buford rallies past Collins Hill

RABBITTOWN — Macy Banks tossed a 1-hit shutout to lead East Hall to an 8-0, five-inning win over Lumpkin COunty Wednesday in Region 7-3A action.

The Lady Vikings (4-4, 3-0 Region 7-3A) remained unbeaten and atop the the region with win.

Lumpkin County (8-2, 1-1) dropped its first region game of the season and the loss snapped a six-game win streak.

Carley Cox led the offense with two hits, including a fifth inning grand slam to cap the run-rule victory.

Junior Anabel Adams belted a lead off home run in the fifth to break a tie and propel the ady Wolves to the victory at home.

The Lady Wolves (6-4) battled back from an early 3-0 deficit with a six-run second inning. Collins Hill tied the game with a three-run fifth but Adams's blast proved to be the eventual game-winner. Buford added a run in the sixth.

Junior Amelia Veal (3-0) got the win going five innings allowing six runs (just three earned) on six hits and struck out four. She was able to work around three Buford errors as well. Junior Kaitlyn Pickens picked up the save going the final two innings scattering five hits.

Collins Hill outhit Buford 11-9 for the game. Adams finished with two hits and two RBI and senior Hannah Morgan had a triple and two RBI for Buford. Senior Meredith Massey had a hit and one RBI and also scored two runs and senior Shea Bayreuther had a hit and an RBI for the Lady Wolves.
