HOSCHTON — The Buford softball team split a pair of games Friday at the Hawk/Bulldog tournament at Mill Creek.
The Lady Wolves opened with a 7-0 victory over Lambert but then dropped a 2-0 decision to Northside-Columbus.
Against Lambert, Buford got a strong outing from junior Amelia Veal in the circle. Veal (2-0) went five innings fanning five and walking three to get the win.
Senior Kelly Paulson and junior Anabel Adams both collected two hits, two RBI, and scored a run to pace the Buford offense. Sophomore Abbi Perkins smacked a two-run home run and senior Mariah Wicker – had two hits and an RBI and scored twice for the Lady Wolves.
In the second game, junior Ansleigh Hollifield (2-3) took the loss. Wicker, Hollifield, and Katie Perkins all had one hit each for Buford.
Buford will be back in action on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Lowndes County in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament at Mill Creek.
