Grammy award-winning country music artist Joe Diffie will be in concert on North Georgia Technical College's Clarkesville Campus Oct. 20 in celebration of the college’s 75th anniversary.
The celebration will also include a Cruise-In Car Show sponsored by the NGTC Alumni Association from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Mobley circle on campus, food trucks for dinner on the Quadrangle beginning at 5 p.m., live concert at 6 p.m., and a fireworks finale at 9 p.m.
Joe Diffie has earned over 20 top 10 singles and has earned 12 number one country hits including “Home,” “Pickup Man,” “Third Rock From the Sun,” and “John Deere Green.” A member of the Grand Ole Opry, Diffie has released 13 albums and has garnered sales exceeding $6 million. In addition to his Grammy award, Diffie has received CMA awards and was once honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the Country Music Broadcasters.
“We are so excited to be celebrating our 75th anniversary and we want to give a big celebration for our community because we really are a family here at North Georgia Tech,” said President Dr. Mark Ivester. “It’s hard to find someone in our community that hasn’t been touched in some way by the college. We are all proud to have the technical college here in our community, and we would love for alumni, current students and people who have never even seen our campus to come to our celebration and just enjoy a nice evening of entertainment and fun for the whole family.”
Gates to the event will open at 5 p.m., and no alcohol, coolers or tote bags will be admitted. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets to this free, family-friendly event.
