*"One Gainesville" community pep rally, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 6:00-8:00, at Bobby Gruhn Field at City Park.   Food, music, games, and free admission.  Meet the Gainesville High School athletic teams.
 
*The Sautee Nacoochee Center will host its first Touch-A-Truck Family Safety, Health and Preparedness Fair September 8, 10:00-2:00.   For more information, visit www.snca.org or call the Center at (706) 878-3300.
 
*Janice Laws, the Democratic candidate for state Insurance Commissioner, will be the featured speaker at the September meeting of the Hall County Democratic Party.  It will be held Sept. 10 at the Gainesville Civic Center at 6:30 p.m.
 
*Good Samaritans of Fannin County is sponsoring a series of events Labor Day Weekend, rain or shine, at the Downtown Blue Ridge Railway Park.  Good Samaritans of Fannin County is an interdenominational association of area churches that raises funds to help those in need. *Piedmont College’s artists-in-residence chamber ensemble, Piedmont Camerata, will present a free concert 4 p.m., Aug. 26 in the chapel on the Demorest campus.

*As part of the I-85 Express Lanes Extension Project, the northbound and southbound on-ramps at Lawrenceville Suwanee Road (Exit 111) will be closed part of next week so crews can install ramp meter technology. Work will start Wednesday, August 22  and continue through Friday, August 24, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day.
