Bear sighting in South Hall County

Posted 9:47PM on Monday 13th August 2018 ( 6 years ago )

A Flowery Branch man said he was startled Saturday night when he found a bear in his yard.

The man said he attempted to scare the bear away, but it came back a little later. He said he called The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and they advised he absolutely not shoot the bear.

The Humane Society said if you have a bear in your yard, you should not run away or toward the bear, do not startle it and do not attempt to harm the bear.

Though sightings like the one in Flowery Branch are rare, they do happen, as bears are indigenous to the region.
