Softball: Lady Falcons rout North Hall in season openers

FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch opened its 2018 softball season with an impressive 9-0, five inning victory over North Hall Tuesday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

It was the first game at the old/new complex for the Lady Falcons, who moved back to their original field after nine seasons at their former Spout Springs Road location.

Alyssa Kimbrell scattered two hits and fanned 11 in the shutout in win in the circle. Flowery Branch scored one run in the second inning and it stayed a tight 1-0 contest until the fifth.

The Lady Falcons offense exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the Mercy Rule. Valerie Eder had two hits, Rylee Rothschild had three RBI and Bretta Alexzulian had two RBI for the Lady Falcons. 

Flowery Branch (1-0) next will play host to Class 7A Mountain View on Thursday.

North Hall (0-1) next will stay on the road traveling to Class 6A Habersham Central on Thursday.
