GAINESVILLE — Ryan Hogan fired a second round 77 to hold off a charging Zayne Hilderbrand to win the 2018 Gainesville City Junior Championship by one stroke Sunday.
Hogan's 36-hole 145 (1-over par) nipped Hilderband's 146, bouyed by a 1-under par 71 on Sunday. Hayden Hayes and defending champion Walker Winslette finished tied for third at 151. Winslette had the low round on Sunday shooting a 68. Yates Smith finished fifth at 152.
In the girls competition, Morgan Nichol fired a second round 80 for a total of 159 to take the title by 21 strokes. Nichols's Gainesville High teammate Karina Collins finished second with a 180 total.
Michael Dotson had a final round of 72 (151) on Sunday to win the boys 14-15 age division. Sam Patterson finished second after a 76 (157).
In the boys 10-13 age division, Alex Holcomb shot 74 (153) to win by a single stroke over Henry Kopydlowski (154). Brigham Ralston finished third at 163.
