GAINESVILLE — Thirty junior golfers completed the opening round of the 2018 Gainesville City Junior Open played at Chattahoochee Golf Course on Saturday.
In the overall boys division, Ryan Hogan opened with a 4 under par 68 and has a 6 shot advantage over Nick Lasseter and Yates Smith, both shot 74. Tied for 4th with rounds of 75 are Zayne Hilderbrand and Shyam Joshi.
In the boys 10-13 age group, Michael Dotson fired a 78 and has a slim 1 shot lead over Alex Holcomb (79) and 2 shots over Brigham Ralston (80).
In the boys 14-15 age division, Michael Dotson shot 79 and leads by 2 shots over Sam Patterson (81). In 3rd place is Walker Elliott (87).
Morgan Nicol is the leader in the girls division with an opening round of 79. Nicol's lead is 10 shots over Karina Collins. Collins opened with an 89.
The Gainesville City Junior is a 36 hole stroke play event. The final round will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday.
