Hall County authorities are investigating an apprent shooting incident that happened on Lake Lanier Saturday afternoon.

The investigation was initiated, according to Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, after deputies were called to a boat in the area of Buford's Burton Mill Park.

"Deputies responded...at approximately 1:30 p.m. after the occupants reported that a window of their vessel had been shot out," Wilbanks explained.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the shooting.

Wilbanks said that statements given by the occupants of the boat led authorities to believe that the gunshot was "fired from the shoreline in the area of Blackberry Lane," which is itself located just off of McEver Road.

After pinpointing the location where the shot may have been fired, Wilbanks said authorities began an extensive search of the area.

"Deputies, along with Georgia Department of Natural Resources Rangers and Georgia State Patrol Air, searched the area extensively, but were unable to locate a shooter or any evidence anywhere along the shoreline where the shot is believed to have come from."

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident, or knowledge of any similar incidents, to call 9-1-1.
