A North Georgia state senator wants the U.S. Attorney's Office to investigate some of the contributions that have been flowing into Secretary of State Brian Kemp's gubernatorial campaign.

Republican Renee Unterman of Buford made a request last week that U.S. Attorney BJay Pak investigate a campaign fundraiser hosted by the owner of two Massage Envy locations, which have employees under investigation for sex crimes.

According to reports in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Gwinnett Daily Post and other Atlanta media, Unterman has called for "an immediate and thorough investigation" into the fundraiser, claiming that Kemp's campaign is breaking the law by accepting contributions from businesses that the Secretary of State's Office regulates. The massage parlors are regulated under the State Board of Massage Therapy.

The media reports indicate Unterman is accusing Kemp of non-action on the sex crime allegations in exchange for campaign donations.

Unterman's request was met this week with criticism from Kemp's campaign, criticism that has since developed into a Facebook battle.

Unterman is a supporter of Kemp's runoff opponent, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.
