CLEVELAND — As many White County residents begin to collect the fruits of their labor from their gardens, White County School System officials are delivering some bad news.
The White County Cannery, located on the campus of White County Middle School, will not operate during this canning season due to “safety concerns”.
No details were given about the safety concerns, but the current facility is being assessed and evaluated for anticipated operation for the 2019 season, according to information released by the school system.
Those with questions about the cannery can call the White County High School Agriculture Department at (706) 865-2312.
White County has had a cannery that serves its residents since the 1940s. The current facility has been in operation since the mid-1960s.
