Sugar Hill preps for big crowds as Sister Sledge and The Village People come to town

Officials in Sugar Hill are expecting big crowds Saturday night for a concert featuring Sister Sledge and The Village People.

Preparing for such an event usually involves days' worth of work leading up to it, with workers getting things prepped in the middle of the week, said Paul Radford, Sugar Hill city manager.

"Fortunately we have several years of experience doing this. We have a great event staff," said Radford.

Sister Sledge, perhaps best known for the hit song "We Are Family," and The Village People ("YMCA") are expected to be a big draw for city, which has lined up quite a few big names at its concert venue, The Bowl, including Michael Bolton and Vertical Horizon later this summer.

Concert-goers are advised to get there early, even though "there is plenty of parking around. We're blessed with that," said Radford.

"We'll have police and others to show them where to park and how to get to the venue."

Attendees are allowed to bring their own food and drink to The Bowl, as long as it isn't in a glass container.

Doors for the concert open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. concert. Tickets are still available, can be purchased here.
