Three Braselton police officers were honored recently with life-saving awards by Police Chief Terry Esco at a meeting of the mayor and city council.

Sgt. Steven Folkers, Officer Josh Lindsay, and Sgt. Christopher Earls were recognized for entering a burning house in the Mulberry Park subdivision in May and rescuing a sleeping homeowner and his dogs.  The citations note that the officers had to deal with "poor visibility due to heavy smoke" during the rescue.

In presenting the awards, Braselton Mayor Bill Orr said, “We honor them for heroic actions which we deeply appreciate.  In this instance of heroism, lives were saved because of the quick action and bravery of these outstanding officers.”

Folkers and Lindsay were at the meeting to accept their awards.  Earls was unable to attend the ceremony.
