A man wanted in connection with the murder of a child, who also faces charges for a Hall County parole violation, has been shot by police in Alachua County, Florida.
Various media outlets in Alabama and Florida are reporting that 28-year-old Carlton James Mathis was shot by a SWAT team officer early Monday morning. Mathis is reportedly hospitalized.
Mathis is also considered a person of interest in the April 1 burglary of a Texaco station in North Hall County.
Dothan, Alabama television stations are reporting that the body of a baby was discovered in a hotel room Monday morning. The child is believed to have died as a result of blunt force trauma, according to the reports. Other details have not been released.
