A two-vehicle wreck in Banks County Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a Habersham County woman.

Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville reports that a Pontiac passenger car driven by Alexis Haney, 20, of Clarkesville was traveling north on Ga. 15 (U.S. 441) approaching Sample Scales Road when Haney lost control of the vehicle.

The Pontiac traveled across the grass median and into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a tractor-trailer truck driven by Bradford Shook, 48, of Hiawassee, according to GSP.

Haney died at the scene.

Shook suffered minor injuries that did not require transport to a medical facility.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. and the southbound lanes of Ga. 15 (U.S. 441) were closed until 7:30 p.m.

No charges will be filed, according to GSP.

This picture, taken as emergency personnel continue their work after the victim was transported, shows the scene of the crash in the southbound lanes of Ga. 15 (U.S. 441) just south of Sample Scales Road.
