A request to annex a 75-acre parcel of property in the New Holland area of Gainesville has been put on hold for a month.

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board had been set to consider the request of Limestone Greenway LLC at its meeting Tuesday afternoon at 5:30. Instead, the developer sent a last-minute letter asking that the request be tabled for a month.

Gainesville Planning Director Matt Tate said the developer did not give a reason for asking for the delay.

Planning board members voted unanimously to accept the developer's request to table the proposal and will now hear the annexation request on June 12.

The proposed project includes more than 189,000 square feet of office, retail, restaurant and hotel space, as well as apartment and single family homes for a piece of property at the intersection of Limestone Parkway at Jesse Jewell Parkway. The project would be located in the booming New Holland section of the city near I-985. The city planning staff has recommended approval of the project with some conditions.

In addition, Limestone Greenway LLC requested - and was granted - a withdrawal of a 70-unit townhome development in the same area. The townhomes had been proposed for an almost 12-acre tract of land on Lakeview Drive near Gainesville Middle School. Tate said the developer would have to wait six months before making another proposal for the property.
