(VIDEO) Track and Field: Buford girls impress to win 8-5A crown

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Buford girls edged out Flowery Branch, while the Cedar Shoals boys pushed ahead of the Buford boys on Friday, each team claiming Region 8-5A crowns on Friday in Flowery Branch.

The Lady Wolves tallied 204 points, ahead of the Lady Falcons' 153. Meanwhile, the Jaguars tallied 145 -- seven points ahead of Buford's 138.

Cedar Shoals won even events, compared with four for Buford (110 meter hurdles, 800 meters, shot-put, and discus), while Flowery Branch nabbed two individual crowns (1,600 and 3,200 meters).

Meanwhile, the Lady Wolves dominated the gold medal platform, winning eight events (400 meters, 200 meters, 100 meters, 300 hurdles, 100 hurdles, 800 meters 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and long jump). The Lady Falcons also won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, as well as the high jump and triple jump).
