A Duluth man was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a minivan in Forsyth County.

Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Rainwater said deputies and emergency crews responded to the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Sharon Road at 9:10 a.m. on April 14.

They determined 64-year-old Gregory Smith had been hit by the minivan and ejected from his motorcycle. Smith was pronounced dead at North Fulton Hospital.

"The investigation at this point has determined that a 2018 Harley Davidson Electra-Glide, operated by Mr. Smith, was traveling north on Peachtree Parkway approaching its intersection with Sharon Road," Rainwater said. "A 2016 Honda Odyssey, which was preparing a left turn from southbound Peachtree Parkway onto Sharon Road, turned in front of the Harley Davidson causing the Harley Davidson to strike the Honda."

The driver of the minivan was identified as 39 year-old Vivekanandan Kandasamy from Cumming.  He and a juvenile female family member, a passenger in the van, were not injured.

"The investigation is continuing," Rainwater said. "If we can come to a conclusion that the van was in the wrong, then there will be charges in this case."
