Tennis: North Hall girls claim region crown, boys third

The North Hall girls tennis team bagged their second straight Region 7-3A title, while the North Hall boys finished with the No. 3 seed for the upcoming state tournament on Thursday.

The Lady Trojans swept past Greater Atlanta Christian 3-0 in the tournament championship game.

North Hall won at No. 2 singles behind Christen Barnes, 6-1, 6-1, while Sydney Patterson claimed a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. Meanwhile, North Hall's No. 2 doubles team of Ella Oxley/Raquel Kallab completed the victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win.

The Lady Trojans will play host to Hart County in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament next week, time and day to be determined.

The North Hall boys, meanwhile, swept to straight sets victories over the Indians.

Masa Kobayashi won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Christian Boychuck won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Kody Dills won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Adam Turcotte/Ethan Surles won 6-3, 6-4, and the No. 2 team of Forrester Terry/Jonathan Elder prevailed 6-1, 6-2.

North Hall will travel to Franklin County in the first round of the state playoffs next week, time to be determined.
