Volunteers needed in White County for food distribution

His Hands and Feet Ministries in Cleveland needs help preparing and distributing food to those in need.

Bob Hirschi works with the group and says even though there are some regular helpers each month, they can always use the extra hands.

Hirschi explains saying, "We get a truckload of food from the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. We have volunteers come in and help us to sort and bag that food. Then we distribute it to those who come to get it."

The ministry does have a few regular volunteers, such as a couple from Dawsonville who lend a helping hand every month, according to Hirschi. Although, he says helpers are needed for their next food distribution on April 12th.

"We serve approximately 200 families," Hirschi tells AccessWDUN. "Our high has been about 330 but our average is around 200 families. That comes up to about 600 to 650 people."

To get involved, you can show up at the thrift store at 2pm on April 12th. The store is located at 66 Blalock Mill Drive across from Truett McConnell University.
