Forsyth County fire investigators need help from the public to find out who tried to destroy a Cumming gas station located across from the main branch of the Forsyth County library.

Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said a resident who lives nearby discovered the blaze near the intersection of Dahlonega Hwy. and Sawnee Drive in the early morning hours of March 28th.

"The back wall of the building had been set on fire and we know for a fact that it was an intentionally set fire," Shivers explained.

Shivers said firefighters put out the flames quickly, leaving minor damage to the building. He said the business continues to operate as usual and the owner has made repairs since the incident.

Shivers added, "While there are some cameras in the area that are security minded cameras, we just don't have a good image of the individual doing this. We're following some leads. We're tracking a few options and if anyone knows who did this, it would certainly help us get them brought to justice that much quicker."

If you have information in the case, you could receive a reward by calling either the Forsyth County Fire Department or the Georgia Arson Control Board at 800-282-5804.
