High speed chase leads to several charges against five men

Posted 12:13AM on Friday 6th April 2018 ( 6 years ago )
After a lengthy chase down Georgia 400 early Thursday morning, Forsyth County deputies say five Atlanta men face many charges in several jurisdictions.

Forsyth County Corporal Doug Rainwater says the five men stole a car in Atlanta and drove to Dawson county where they burglarized a gas station and stole cash and lottery tickets.

He said Dawson deputies issued a lookout for the vehicle but the men also broke into a Forsyth convenience store.

"Once the deputy arrived at the Chevorn station," Rainwater said. "They saw that someone had attempted to break the front glass. At the same time Cumming Police Department was staked out near Bald Ridge Marina Road and did see the lookout alert posted by Dawson County Sheriff's Office."

Rainwater said the men refused to stop and led authorities on a chase down Georgia 400 and onto I-285 west. The chase involved Forysth County Sheriff's Office, Cumming PD, Alpharetta PD, Roswell PD, Sandy Springs PD and the Georgia State Patrol. The chase went through three jurisdictions and ended in Sandy Springs on Roswell Road.

He said authorites used a pit maneuver to stop the car and two of the men suffered injuries running from law enforcement - requiring them to need treatment in area hospitals.

Rainwater said none of the men will receive bond from Forsyth county until the investigation is finished.

He said deputies suspect the men may be responsible for additional crimes last night. If anyone has information in this case, you're encouraged to call the Forsyth County Sheriff's office.
