A popular two-day plant sale is returning to North Georgia this weekend.
The Hall County Master Gardener Spring Expo is back for 2018 at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center. It features a variety of outdoor decor vendors, ranging from plants, pottery, birdhouses, art, honey, and hickory syrup, as well as others, joined by barbecue and lemonade vendors will also be on hand for hungry shoppers. Those looking to learn more can visit an expert or speaker at the Expo as well.
Speakers include Eleanor Craig with Fern Ridge Farms talk about ‘Great Garden Ferns and Their Shady Friends’ at 11 am, followed by Brenau professor Dr. Rudi Kiefer at 1 pm putting a humorous spin on ‘Changing Weather: Fact vs. Fiction’ on Friday; on Saturday, Nathan Wilson of the recently opened Lanier Nursery and Gardens will discuss ‘Why Natives? Ten Ways To Conserve Nature By Gardening,’ at 11 am, and at 1 pm Jean Scharle of Randy’s Perennials will present ‘Specialty Gardening: Fairy, Succulent, and Water Gardening’.
Adults will pay $2 per person to enter the Expo. "HCMG is a non-profit organization," said Liz Dietz, the organization’s past president and Spring Expo Chairwoman. "The proceeds from this fund raiser are used in many projects all over Hall County."
Children get in for free and pets are asked to please stay home.
The event from April 6 to April 7 will be held at the Chicopee Ag Center at 1855 Calvary Church Rd, Gainesville, GA 30507, just two miles from Exit 20 off I-985 in Gainesville. Yellow ‘Garden Expo’ signs will be posted to assist. Friday the gates open from 8:30-5 and on Saturday from 8:30-4.
The organization also hosts a Fall Expo, which will be held September 28 and 29 this year.
