A fire at the Hall County trash compactor site in the 3800 block of Old Flowery Branch Road about noon Saturday was quickly extinguished by county firefighters.
Fire department spokesman Zachary Brackett said the fire was in the compactor and that firefighters had to separate the dumpster portion from the mechanical unit that runs the compactor prior to putting it out.
Capt. Brackett said another unit was being installed and that the impact on the compactor site was expected to be "minimal."
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined and there were no injuries.
