JEFFERSON — The Jefferson baseball team used a strong pitching performance from Patrick Hickox to help secure a 2-1 win over Stephens County on Monday in Jefferson.
Hickox scattered 4 hits and struck out 4 Indian batters to earn the win on the mound for the Dragons (10-6, 3-1 Region 8-4A).
Jefferson responded to a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the fourth, tying the score before pulling ahead in the fifth. Zac Corbin produced a two-out double and then came home on Lane Watkins' RBI single.
Watkins finished 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Jefferson travels to Stephens County on Wednesday.

The Trojans (12-3, 7-0 Region 7-3A) racked up 11 hits en route to the five-inning region win on Monday in Blairsville.
Charlie Erickson produced a double and 4 RBI while going 2-for-3 at the plate, while Caleb Wiley went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored to help pace North Hall. Caleb Clark also finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored, and Reese Olson doubled and drove in two runs.
Olson also earned the win on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 8 batters over 4 innings work.
North Hall plays host to Union County on Wednesday in Gainesville.
