Gas prices are back on the upswing, with prices at the highest since last October.
In Georgia, motorists are paying $2.50, 11 cents more than nearly two weeks ago. That's according to AAA.
"Gasoline demand has been very strong the past few weeks, as Americans travel for spring break," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "This robust gasoline demand, coupled with lower supply levels, are setting the stage for rising prices in the coming weeks."
GasBuddy.com reported similar numbers, with a statewide price of $2.48. According to the fuel price tracking website, this price compares to the national average of $2.60 a gallon, up 4.7 cents a gallon in the last week.
Prices Sunday were 33.8 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 12.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago, GasBuddy.com reports.
The highest prices were in Savannah, at $2.54 and the lowest was spotted in Dalton at $2.43.
Crude oil prices rose $3.82 per barrel last week. Friday's settlement of $65.88 is the highest daily settlement since January 26.
This is also the first time gasoline futures prices rose above two dollars, the first time since Hurricane Harvey last August. Wholesale prices rose nine cents, similar to prices in January.
