Tallulah Falls School student Madeline McClurg of Clarkesville and White County High School's Abbey Sartain of Cleveland have been selected by Habersham EMC to participate in the 2018 Washington Youth Tour. This all-expense paid trip is sponsored each year by electric membership cooperatives in Georgia.
McClurg and Sartain were selected by securing the top combined scores in a written test and interview by a panel of judges for the two positions sponsored by the cooperative.
According to Valerie Stamey, HEMC WYT Coordinator, the Youth Tour was established with this purpose in mind: to inspire the next generation of leaders. This year’s tour, which takes place June 7-14, offers opportunities for students to meet policymakers, tour historic monuments and participate in leadership experiences while making new friends from across the state and the nation.
McClurg is the daughter of Matthew and Kim McClurg. Sartain is the daughter of Ben and Kim Sartain.
