WINDER — Former Buford coach Ed Dudley has been hired as the new Winder-Barrow football coach after he was approved by the Barrow County Board of Education Tuesday night.
Dudley spent three seasons with the Wolves (1992-94) before taking over at Walton in Cobb County from 1995-2008. Dudley then moved to Ware County, where he led the Gators to the quarterfinals or better four times, including the 2012 Class 5A state title game where they fell to Gainesville and Deshaun Watson.
Dudley is taking over for Heath Webb, who took the the head coaching position at Gainesville after four seasons with the Bulldoggs.
Webb reestablished the Bulldoggs program in his brief time, taking them to the playoffs all four years, a program-best, and also snagging the program's first playoff win since 1993 this past season with a 36-7 victory over Chattahoochee in the first round. Winder fell to Harrison in the second round.
