The Hall County Planning Commission has recommended approval for a rezoning that would allow a developer to build in a previously abandoned neighborhood development in the northwest side of the county.

Breedlove Residential, LLC is looking to use the nearly 60-acre tract off of Lawson Robinson Road just north of W.G. Robinson Road to build 52 lots on existing roads that were left when a previous developer abandoned the development during the economic recession in 2007.

The property, which is currently zoned as Agricultural-Residential-III, was zoned for Planned Residential Development for that original plan in 2006. It was zoned to AR-III in 2012 after the property was abandoned, and now Breedlove Residential, LLC wants it zoned for Planned Residential Development again.

While some nearby residents expressed concerns about traffic in the area, planning commissioner Chris Braswell said he thinks the development will be a positive change for the area.

"In the Planned Residential Development, they have to spell out in their application exactly what they're going to be doing, so we know and it's clear to us what they can and cannot do," Braswell said.

The rezoning request will now go before the Hall County Commission at its March 22 meeting.
