Baseball: East Hall gets big win to open 7-AAA; GHS, Lakeview, North Hall take wins

JEFFERSON — Gainesville scored four runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a 6-3 victory over Jefferson Monday in the first of a three-game series between the two ranked teams.

The Elephants (5-4) led 2-0 after single runs in the first and fourth before Jefferson scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead.

Collier Scott fanned six in six innings of work to get the win for Gainesville. Banks Griffith tossed a scoreless seventh inning to get the save.

Griffith also provided a pair of hits and two RBI to help spark the offense. Cameron Wilson and Charlie Wall also collected two hits each. Scott, Jared Smith, and Jackson Kemp all had one hit for Gainesville (5-4) with Scott, Smith, and Wall driving in one run each.

Patrick Hickox went six inning for Jefferson (6-2) allowing three runs on six hits. The loss snapped the Dragons five-game win streak.

Sammy Elegreet had a hit and two RBI to lead the Dragons offense. Ryan Godfrey had a hit and an RBI for Jefferson.

The two teams meet again Wednesday at Ivey Watson Field at 5:55 p.m. before returning to Jefferson on Friday to conclude the series.


EAST HALL 4,
GAC 3

The Vikings got a game-winning RBI single from Luke Cooper to cap a thrilling four-run bottom of the seventh inning as they opened Region 7-AAA with a huge win over Greater Atlanta Christian in Rabbittown.

Greater Atlanta Christian led 1-0 after four innings and added a pair of runs in the fifth for 3-0 advantage. But the Spartans couldn't hold it.

East Hall starter Trey Campbell was solid scattering three hits and fanning four in five innings of work.

The Vikings (4-4, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) had eight hits. Cooper paced the offense with two hits.

The two teams will head to GAC (4-4, 0-1) on Wednesday to resume their three-game series.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 4,
JOHNSON 3

The Lions scored two runs in the sixth inning to erase a deficit and then held on for the win on the road.

Ian Echols earned the win on the mound pitching five innings allowing three runs, just two earned, on three hits and struck out four. Sam Stewart got the save pitching the final two innings allowing no hit innings and fanning three.

Stewart also had a good day at the plate with two hits, including a double and three RBI. Jordan Thomas had a single and scored two runs, Campbell Melson had two hits, and Echols added a single and RBI for Lakeview (4-1).

Lakeview next will play host to West Hall on Tuesday. Johnson (1-7) will travel to East Jackson on Wednesday.


NORTH HALL 14,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 0

 The Trojans exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal a lopsided win on Monday in Gainesville.

David Seavey helped lead North Hall's assault at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a home run and a double while driving in 4 runs. Caleb Clark also provided a double and 2 RBI, while going 2 for 3. 

Reese Olson and Charlie Erickson also provided two hits apiece, while Jackson Dyer and Tyler Brooks each had a hit and 2 RBI in the win.

Olson also dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game (5 innings), while allowing just one hit and striking out 10 batters.
