A Gainesville man has been charged with a Friday night armed robbery and stabbing of a taxi cab driver.

Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said officers responded to a call about a stabbing at a location on West Ridge Road. When they arrived at the scene, they found a taxi driver, identified as 30-year-old Jaime Marceleno Morales, with lacerations to his face and hands.

Holbrook says Morales was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Holbrook said through their investigation, police learned that Morales picked up Javier Torres-Toledo, 34, on Park Hill drive Friday night and drove him to a number of locations before the attack and robbery occurred on West Ridge Road. Morales told police that the suspect took his wallet, keys and phone before he fled the scene.

Police were able to track Torres-Toledo and arrest him Saturday morning. Holbrook said he was arrested without incident and at last report, he remained in the Hall County Jail.
