COMMERCE — The Lakeview Academy girls held Athens Christian to just three first half points en route to a 44-23 victory Tuesday at the Commerce High gym.
The win pushed Lakeview (18-8) into the semifinals of the Region 8-A Tournament. The Lady Lions have won nine straight games against region opponents.
The Lady Lions led 19-3 at halftime and then cruised to the win behind Sadie Thrailkil's 11 points, 8 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Maddie Blackburn added 13 points and 3 rebounds and Tori Taylor had 8 points for Lakeview.
Lakeview Academy will play at 7 p.m. Friday against the Athens Academy-Hebron Christian winner. That game is scheduled for Wednesday night. The entire tournament will play out at Commerce High.

Blake McIntyre 11 points and Adam Cottrell 10 points for Lakeview (20-6). Jack Blackburn dished out 8 assists for the Lions.
Lakeview next will take on the Athens Academy-Tallulah Falls winner on Friday at 8:30 at Commerce.

After winning on Monday to move into the quarterfinals, the Eagles could not get past the No. 1 seeded Wolverines.
The loss kept them from a third straight playoff appearance.
